The symptoms of OCD can make one's thinking patterns "inflexible". So, instead of living in the moment and weighing options reasonably, there tends to be "over deliberation".
As we live in a rapidly changing world, I have challenged myself to be more flexible. I am aware of the pandemic and the global social issues that are changing rapidly. I could delve into watching tv and social media about these issues, but my flexibility allows me to say, "hey, it's ok to be mindful of my daily activity".
I still take my walks, enjoy my new apartment, continue my ERP work (every day), and live a more healthy life.
In totality, I believe that a "global flexibility" is a better option than the inflexibility of Black and White thinking.
@DCM This is a realization that I'm still trying to fully accept. I tend to have uniquely rigid thinking patterns and it shows up in many different aspects of life.
