I believe that motivation is a core concept for OCD treatment/recovery. I usually link motivation with accomplishment (no matter how big or small). Some examples:
once a week, taking the time to refill medication box (accomplishment);
making a deliberate effort to take medication as prescribed (accomplishment);
follow through with your treatment plan (accomplishment);
stop everything you are doing and watch a funny movie (accomplishment)
We know that OCD is patterned by obsessive thinking and compulsive (rituals) action. I believe that making a deliberate attempt to pattern the relationship between motivation and accomplishment is a more constructive route to go. It definitely takes motivation, but we are up for the challenge.đ
@DCM I think that's good advice for everyone, not just those with OCD. Be kind to yourself.
